Nikolai Vladimirovich Novikov-Russian musician, composer and sound engineer was born on August 21, 1980 in Vladivostok, Primorsky Krai in the family of a music publisher.  Nikolay’s childhood was full of music. Thanks to the Hobbies of his father-Vladimir Ivanovich Novikov, who had in the house a rich collection of records and sound equipment, the son grew up in the atmosphere of classical music, jazz, rock music.

The first electronic keyboard instruments (“LEL”,” Maestro”,” Youth”) appeared in the house during Nikolai’s studies in music and secondary school. To this time (1987-1990) belong and the first experiences on composing and records their compositions. Thus appeared the first experimental “magnetoalbums”, Amateur recordings on compact cassettes. At first it was rather an imitation of the music of famous and beloved artists: James Last, Paul Mauriat, Vangelis, Jean Michel Jarre and other authors of instrumental music. Selection by ear, musical notation (at that time it was difficult to get the notes of these authors), then performance in the family or in school ensembles. Nikolai’s passion for sound engineering began with the need to record his music, mastering new sound equipment.

The first seriously decorated, both musically and in terms of recording, works can be attributed to 1997-1998. Being a fan of fantasy literature, in particular the works of the writer John Ronald Ruel Levien, Nikolai composes the music for the trilogy “the Lord of the rings” in 1960. this is a kind of Suite, which included instrumental orchestral pieces corresponding to the chapters of the novel, the sound track to the film, which did not exist at that time.Subsequently, they turned out to be the first Studio album, which received the Tolkien name “Music of the Ainur”. The CD was released in a small edition in 1997 and quickly spread to Vladivostok music fans.

In 1998, already working at the radio Studio “New Wave” as a sound engineer, Nikolai created the original composition “Years of Silence”, which later became the basis of the eponymous single. Fascinated by Eastern philosophy and Buddhism, the author collected original recordings of temple singing of Buddhist monks and combined their sound with an orchestra. Working on the radio in those years helped not only to create a professional Studio in which you can make any record, but also the opportunity to sometimes acquaint listeners with his work on the radio air.

In 2000, Nikolai met with the famous Vladivostok poet and Director Yulia Voitovskaya, who at that time produced her program “Ecology of the spirit” on the TV channel “OTV-Prim”. In her hands accidentally got the first disc of Nicholas “the Music of Anurov”, inspired by the which it offer the author cooperation. In co-creation with Julia and “Ecology of spirit” was born a large number of music for movies and TV shows, such as music for the film “Father Peter”, “Soul of the Master”, “port Posyet”, etc.

In 2003, Nikolai Novikov finished recording his second Studio album “Narcissus”, which included plays written in the period 2001 -2003 and went to St. Petersburg to fulfill his long-standing dream-to study as a sound engineer.

While studying at the St. Petersburg University of trade Unions in the specialty “Musical sound Engineering” in the workshop of honored worker of culture of the Russian Federation, associate Professor of sound engineering Semyon shugal, Nikolai received knowledge from such famous teachers as Alexander Radvilovich (instrumentation), Natalia Solomonova (analysis of sound), Yuri Yastrebov (theory, harmony).

During his studies in St. Petersburg from 2003 to 2009 he wrote the string Quartet No. 1 “in Baroque style”, the cycle of pieces for the variety Symphony orchestra “Revival” (2004), the cycle of pieces for violin and piano “Autumn notebook” (2005), the first part of the piano Concerto No. 1 (not finished).

Returning to Vladivostok in 2009, Nicholas started to work at the Pushkin theatre DVGTU when. Having worked in the institution for about a year in 2010, he joined the far Eastern Academy of Arts as a sound engineer and teacher of the discipline “Arrangement”. This year, by order of the all-Russian Children’s center “Ocean” Nikolai is working on the arrangement and recording of the author’s “Ocean” songs, which were subsequently released on a disc for the anniversary of the center.

Also, in 2010, the author takes part in the creation of a multimedia album “Journey” by Vladivostok photographer Ilya Grabovenko, containing original photos of Vladivostok and the author’s music by Nikolai Novikov. The CD was released by NovikovStudio in 2010.

In 2011, Nikolai Vladimirovich was invited to the Primorsky Regional College of Arts as a teacher at the newly opened Department of “Musical sound skills”, where he works to this day as the head of the Department.

In 2013, work on the third Studio album “paint”, which remained unreleased, was completed. Pieces from this album are performed by musicians from different cities of Primorsky Krai. In the same year, the piano quintet “the Fifth sun” was written, the premiere of which has not yet taken place.

The following years were marked by the writing of chamber music – mostly pieces for solo instruments and piano commissioned by the performers themselves. In 2017, active work with the theater begins. Commissioned by the Ussuri drama theatre, the music for the play “Jolly Roger” was written, which premiered in 2018.At the end of 2018, work on several chamber works was completed: “Elegy for cello piano”, op. 29, ” Cantilena for three-string domra», op. 30, “Sonata for accordion solo No. 1”, op. 31.The new Sonata was based on the events currently taking place in the middle East, so it was called “Syrian”.

At the moment, the composer is working on several works for the orchestra of Russian folk instruments, including music for the poem “the Execution of Stepan Razin”, which is to be premiered in 2020, as well as several pieces for the Symphony orchestra.
